Overview
Google plans at least EUR 13 billion for 2027 and 2028 across Hamina, Kajaani, Muhos and Vaala, but preparatory work at Kajaani and Muhos was ordered to stop in October 2026 pending environmental impact assessments. Nebius is tripling its Mäntsälä site to 75 MW and building a second Mäntsälä data centre of up to 70 MW from 2027. Yle reported about 50,000 MW of connection enquiries, of which Fingrid expects about a tenth to be built.
Grid context
Yle reported in April 2026 more than 50,000 MW of data centre connection enquiries, of which Fingrid expects about one tenth to be realised.

Capacity in tracked public coverage
Tracked public coverage, not a national total. Sums of reported, project-level figures from 0 of the 6 published project records we track for Finland. Each metric and each delivery class is summed on its own and never added to another. Confirmed operating capacity never includes design or ultimate capacity. Delayed projects are never counted as under construction now. Campus and phase figures are not double counted. Ranges and upper bounds are not summed. Unknown values are not counted as zero.
None of the tracked project records for Finland has a figure that can be summed yet. Figures with an unclear basis and undisclosed values are never added. Each project page lists its reported figures as published. Not disclosed is not zero.
Figures not counted (4) and why
- Google Hamina data centre campus
- Investment EUR 1 billion: Marked not summable by research: Expansion investment in EUR billions announced May 2024
- Nebius Mäntsälä data centre (first site)
- Other 75 MW: Basis unclear (not stated as IT, facility, grid or thermal). Never summed.
- Nebius second Mäntsälä data centre
- Other up to 70 MW: Basis unclear (not stated as IT, facility, grid or thermal). Never summed.
- Grid connection 70 MW: Marked not summable by research: Substation rating
Method: capacity rules. Company-wide investment, area figures and third-party market estimates are never included in these sums.
