Google Skien data centre (Gromstul, Telemark)
Google started building its first Norwegian data centre at Skien in February 2024 with an investment of EUR 600 million and plans for it to be operational in 2026. Google says 240 MW of power has been allocated for the first phase and that it plans to reuse the heat. Google expects the site to run on over 99% carbon-free energy given the Norwegian grid mix, and it signed a 160 MW power purchase agreement at Tellenes in 2017.
