Google Grange Castle data centre extension (phase 3, Dublin)

PermittedIrelandSouth Dublin

Third phase of Google's campus at Grange Castle Business Park, south Dublin: a 72,400 sq m data centre on a 50 acre site. South Dublin County Council refused permission in August 2024 citing grid capacity and lack of on-site renewables. On appeal, An Coimisiún Pleanála granted permission (reported 28 September 2026), with conditions including evidence of power purchase agreement engagement before development and renewable fuel for backup generators. Google said in its appeal that EirGrid had given a grid connection in 2021. The decision could still face judicial review.
